Photographer, Michael Agel visited The Macallan’s home in Speyside with a mission to capture the very heart of The Macallan and its people with the Leica X Vario.
Michael, who has shot for Rolling Stones magazine and photographed music legends such as Jamie Cullum and Bryan Adams while on tour, turned his lens to the people at The Macallan, resulting in stunning portraits reflecting the true craft of photography with the passion and talent of those at The Macallan. Below is the story of George Craig, Production Team Leader.
George Craig, Production Team Leader

From a young age George has lived in the heart of the whisky country and in 1984 he followed in his father’s footsteps and ventured into the whisky industry. George started his career with The Macallan with tough training in the tun room and malt handling intake and today is responsible for supervising the creation of the new make spirit in the still house. One of The Macallan’s six pillars, the ‘Curiously Small Stills’, captured here in Michael’s shot, contribute to the distinctively rich, fruity character of The Macallan, and just like George are at the very heart of The Macallan.
Our friends over at The Macallan continue the journey of The Macallan characters.  Discover Bob Dalgarno, Whisky Maker here.
Luxury single malt, The Macallan commissioned the world’s most influential living photography and Leica advocate, Elliott Erwitt as the fourth edition of their award-winning Masters of Photography Series. The Macallan Masters of Photography: Elliott Erwitt Edition sees Elliott’s iconic and subtle humorous style capture the great character of The Macallan’s homeland.  Shot against dramatically different backdrops, Elliott captured 158 candid moments which embrace The Macallan’s Scottish heritage and people.
Since 1824, The Macallan has built a reputation on their unique processes and very special characters.  We’d like to thank the team at The Macallan for allowing us to visit such a special place to photograph the special people behind a great single malt.
If you’re inspired by Michael’s and Elliott’s images why not capture the character of your land for The Macallan Masters of Photography Master Class competition for a chance to win a Leica C or Leica X Vario Camera.  Find out how to participate here: www.themastersofphotography.com.
