Photographer, Michael Agel visited The Macallan’s home in Speyside with a mission to capture the very heart of The Macallan and its people with the Leica X Vario. Michael says he “hopes the images take you on a journey of meaning and passion” and “capturing a special moment at a place like The Macallan Estate is a pleasure.”
The results were portraits reflecting the true craft of photography with the passion and talent of those at The Macallan.
Last week, we shared the story of George Craig, Production Team Leader. Today, read more about Eddie Aldridge, Farmer.
Eddie Aldridge, Farmer

Born and bred on a 120 acre farm at Corgyle, near The Macallan in Speyside, Eddie is a master in his craft and now farms over 700 acres. Eddie’s relationship with The Macallan is a long standing one, in 1968 Eddie was contracted by The Macallan to carry out work on the farm and now is responsible for the acres that surround the estate. The Macallan estate lies in an area of great natural beauty and Eddie is at the heart of maintaining the beautiful landscape. Of the 390 acres that surround the estate, some 90 acres are sown in the spring with the exclusive Minstrel barley variety to make The Macallan, which Eddie knows a lot about after winning numerous malting barley competitions. Eddie looks right at home in this picture captured here outside The Macallan’s Spiritual Home, with his beloved tractor in the background symbolising his essential role.
Our friends over at The Macallan continue the journey of The Macallan characters. Discover Willie Bremner, Ghillie here.
Luxury single malt, The Macallan commissioned the world’s most influential living photography and Leica advocate, Elliott Erwitt as the fourth edition of their award-winning Masters of Photography Series. The Macallan Masters of Photography: Elliott Erwitt Edition sees Elliott’s iconic and subtle humorous style capture the great character of The Macallan’s homeland. Shot against dramatically different backdrops, Elliott captured 158 candid moments which embrace The Macallan’s Scottish heritage and people.
Since 1824, The Macallan has built a reputation on their unique processes and very special characters. We’d like to thank the team at The Macallan for allowing us to visit such a special place to photograph the special people behind a great single malt.
If you’re inspired by Michael’s and Elliott’s images why not capture the character of your land for The Macallan Masters of Photography Master Class competition for a chance to win a Leica C or Leica X Vario Camera.
